Week 3

The doctor told me on Friday that I would have to wear my orthopedic shoe for another week. I will be happy when I finally get to wear 2 shoes again, and I'll be even happier when they let me wear high heels.

Bright Sunshiny Day

These past few days have been beautiful. Its been sunny and a warm 47-54 degrees. Any day that it is not snowing and in the 30s is an exciting day. I'm crossing my fingers that it lasts.

The Last of the Cakes

I had my last cake class this week and I am really wondering where the time has gone. It was only once a week throughout the month of February and I don't know where February went. Anyway, we finished learning how to do roses and so I made a cake of roses. Each one is individually done and it takes a few minutes to complete one. It took forever...ok like an hour but I am now looking for a place where I can showcase my cake talents. Anyone have any ideas? Who needs a cake? If you come to my house I will gladly make you one.

Monday...Monday...Wednesday...Thursday

Because we have 2 Mondays off this month, BYU decided that they would make up for a lost Monday by moving Monday classes to Tuesday effectively making Tuesday a Monday. I don't know who thinks that they can just switch days of the week, but it is not right. The unwelcome switching of days was made even worse by the fact that I have ALL my classes on Monday and none on Tuesday. Then I had to go to all of my classes 2 days in a row. I was not happy.

X is for X-Ray

This is not my foot but looking up foot x-rays, I have learned people have really ugly feet.

After days of just letting my foot try and heal itself, I went in and saw the doctor today. Katherine picked me up and drove me (she has been taking care of me all weekend) and then I made her come into the appointment with me. I was talking with the doctor and the most likely culprit of my pain is a stress fracture so he gave me this lovely looking orthopedic shoe, its heinous actually, and sent me for an x-ray.
At the hospital, I had to register with the hospital but I did it all through the phone. I couldn't just fill out a form and then have them enter the information, I had to dictate to this elderly woman my insurance information, which is basically all of my dad's information, an emergency contact person and then all of my information. Throughout the whole thing she kept trying to make conversation with me. Did she not realize that I just wanted to get my x-ray and go home and sleep? The strangest thing was when she was taking my information, noticing that neither me nor my sister were registered in the system she said so you and your sister must be new to the area. I thought to myself no we are just not sick or injured enough to come to the hospital. Odd.
When I finally got into get my x-ray they kept asking me to bend my foot in impossible ways. Not only was it awkward, but it was severely painful moving all over the place to get the right angles for the picture. They better turn out really great.
To end this great day Katherine and I went to Walgreens to fill my prescription and the pharmacist at the counter was asking me all of my information to input into the database. I really didn't want to tell another person anything about me but I gave him all my information and when we got to my phone number he said wait that's a Va number. Where are you from? I told him where I was from and he told me that he used to work at the Giant there. He has probably been filling my prescriptions for years now.
The whole day was out of control but I'm glad that I'm getting everything taken care of. If the x-ray doesn't bring up anything and I'm still having pain in a few days, I will be back to the hospital to have a bone scan. I am really hoping that that doesn't happen.

London

I'm thinking about spending my summer in London. Anyone have any thoughts about that?

Shooting Myself in the Foot

Unfortunately at 22 I am falling apart. I don't know whats wrong with me but I have somehow injured my foot...I have no idea how I did it but its all swollen and I cannot walk on it. Because of this new development I have spent the day inside in my pajamas doing absolutely nothing. Hopefully tomorrow brings something better so I do not have to wear summer sandals to church because I cannot get my foot into a proper shoe. Its going to be interesting.

Happy Birthday....to me?

So after 2 cake decorating classes, this is what I came up with. Today we learned the star tip and writing as well as piping gel transfers. Happy Birthday to me.

Unsleeping Beauty

For the past week I have not been able to sleep through the night and it has really not been an enjoyable experience. Its not just that I wake up once and am able to fall back asleep but I wake up several times and am awake for hours at. If anyone needs their sleep it is me. I do not do well without sufficient sleep. I am tired and irritable and generally quite unpleasant when I don't sleep enough. It might be time to break out the Nyquil.

Dear John...

I went and saw Dear John this evening. Two weekends ago my sister told me that I HAD to read the book before we went and saw the movie so I took off all of Saturday and read the entire book. I loved it. I really felt like I could relate to Savannah even though my boyfriend at the time wasn't going off to war, he was still leaving and going into the Army. I wrote those letters once...not knowing when I was going to get one back...not knowing what he was doing or what he was really going through. I know how it feels to have just weeks, days, even hours with someone before they leave for months at a time. I understand. I stood at the airport when he left me and then ran to him when we were reunited just to have to leave each other once again. It wasn't fun but I will always have fond memories of those times.

If you see the movie, do yourself a favor and read the book as well. It is definitely worth a day of reading and make sure you have a tissue or two handy. You may need it.

Wilton Cakes

I went to my first cake decorating class and I loved it. I wish it were more in depth and I thought we would be learning a lot more but I think I will need some time on the basics. This week we learned how to make the perfect cake and icing and then how to properly ice the cake. I think that this is going to be a lot of fun. Next week I will have pictures of my own cake...not just the picture of the work book. I am already looking into signing up for course 2.

Let Them Eat Cake

I am taking a cake decorating class this month and I couldn't be more excited. My friend Lacey and I singed up WAYYYY in advance for the class because it fills up so fast. We actually got our names on the list in early November and February was the first class to have an opening. I hope that by the time I am finished with the class I can decorate cakes like this one. I highly doubt it, but it would be nice.
