After days of just letting my foot try and heal itself, I went in and saw the doctor today. Katherine picked me up and drove me (she has been taking care of me all weekend) and then I made her come into the appointment with me. I was talking with the doctor and the most likely culprit of my pain is a stress fracture so he gave me this lovely looking orthopedic shoe, its heinous actually, and sent me for an x-ray.
At the hospital, I had to register with the hospital but I did it all through the phone. I couldn't just fill out a form and then have them enter the information, I had to dictate to this elderly woman my insurance information, which is basically all of my dad's information, an emergency contact person and then all of my information. Throughout the whole thing she kept trying to make conversation with me. Did she not realize that I just wanted to get my x-ray and go home and sleep? The strangest thing was when she was taking my information, noticing that neither me nor my sister were registered in the system she said so you and your sister must be new to the area. I thought to myself no we are just not sick or injured enough to come to the hospital. Odd.
When I finally got into get my x-ray they kept asking me to bend my foot in impossible ways. Not only was it awkward, but it was severely painful moving all over the place to get the right angles for the picture. They better turn out really great.
To end this great day Katherine and I went to Walgreens to fill my prescription and the pharmacist at the counter was asking me all of my information to input into the database. I really didn't want to tell another person anything about me but I gave him all my information and when we got to my phone number he said wait that's a Va number. Where are you from? I told him where I was from and he told me that he used to work at the Giant there. He has probably been filling my prescriptions for years now.
The whole day was out of control but I'm glad that I'm getting everything taken care of. If the x-ray doesn't bring up anything and I'm still having pain in a few days, I will be back to the hospital to have a bone scan. I am really hoping that that doesn't happen.
